What are the best laptops?

The Dell XPS 13 is our pick for the best laptop overall. It packs speed, a gorgeous bezel-less display, and decent battery life into a slim, lightweight design. The model with an OLED touchscreen is well worth the money if you can afford it.

We also like the XPS 15 and XPS 17 with their 15-inch and 17-inch displays. However, Dell has yet to offer the XPS 17 with an OLED display.

I love the idea of an OLED laptop, but I’m looking for something more affordable. Asus has a Zenbook 13 with an OLED display that is both powerful and has great battery life, and it usually costs less than the XPS 13.

If you want a laptop right now that will run Windows 11 and show it off fully, Microsoft Surface Laptop Studio is the right choice. It’s a powerful, well-built 2-in-1 that (when you splurge on the discrete Nvidia 3050 Ti GPU) can do some decent gaming or video editing.

As a Mac fan, our recommendation for the best MacBook for most people is the MacBook Air with M1, which offers fantastic performance and long battery life.

Despite that, if you spend more money, you can get a whole lot more power, as the M1 Pro and M1 Max push the MacBook Pro 14-inch to new heights of performance, and the 120Hz Liquid Retina displays are stunning as well. In addition, these are the Macs for pros who want HDMI output and SD card readers without having to use USB-C adapters.

We’ve rounded up some of the best budget laptops that you can buy for less than $500 in our guide to the best laptops under $500.

Our favorite laptop is the Dell XPS 13 because it has a beautiful display, excellent performance, and a svelte design. Even though the battery life isn’t as good as some other laptops of similar price, it usually lasts long enough to get you through a workday without requiring a charger.

As of 2021, Dell will be offering a 3.5K OLED touchscreen option for the XPS 13. This OLED screen is well worth the investment if you can afford it (usually a couple hundred bucks more, around the same price as a 4K non-OLED screen), as it offers deep, inky blacks, vibrant colors, and high contrast ratios when embedded in the thin-bezeled InfinityEdge design of the XPS 13.

An AMD-powered Asus Zenbook 13 OLED offers an eye-catching 1080p OLED display, exceptional battery life, and an attractive, lightweight design at a price under $1,000.

Although the speakers aren’t incredible, the webcam leaves something to be desired, and the headphone jack isn’t available, you can work around these problems. You can’t beat the Asus Zenbook 13 at this price for a zippy little ultraportable with an amazing screen that will last all day long.

How we test the best laptops  Asus-Zenbook-

To find the best laptop, we run each machine through a series of benchmarks and real-world tests to see how it will perform in everyday use. Each laptop’s display is tested with our in-house light meter and colorimeter to determine the brightness and color quality.

To measure general performance, we run Geekbench 5 (CPU performance) as well as a variety of 3DMark tests. Additionally, we run a hard drive speed test and a battery test, where we let the machine browse the internet until it runs out of power. The following is a brief overview of how the laptops on this list perform in terms of tested battery life:
